various locations, UK 2010 - 2014
Material: 100 meters of black satin double sided berisfold 7 mm width ribbon, No. 15 Swann-Morton sterile disposable scalpel (retractable).
Action: Head is wrapped in ribbon, the body breathes, the ribbon and flesh is cut and ribbon hangs as a garland as the body bleeds profusely.
Originally performed in full as part of Traces of Being, elements of Aktion are now only exhibited as part of any other action it features in. A variation to camera has been shown in full as a video installation within [RE]authoring through Sacrifice and as stand alone work artwork at Tempting Failure in 2013. The locus of identity is obscured & dissected in an action that highlights the perception of subject & object.
